The whole of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State was in mourning, on Thursday, following a clash between the Fulani and the natives Berom,leading to the death of no fewer than 20 people, with several houses burnt.
To stem the hostilities, the state government has, therefore, imposed 24-hour curfew on the affected local government area, while members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the council had been relocated to the state capital.
The latest crisis was in connection with the clashes between the natives and the Fulanis on Monday, leading to the death of seven people and since the incident, there had been reprisal, thereby heightening tension in the council and other surrounding local government areas.The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Abraham Yiljap, who spoke to journalists in Jos, on Thursday, said a 24-hour curfew had been imposed on Barkin Ladi and adjoining areas.
