Mass failure in Education ministry’s promotion exam for directors

The Federal Ministry of Education has expressed disgust over the mass failure of its directors in its last promotion examination.

The Ministry’s Assistant Director, Human Resource Management, Mr Sunday Enokela, who expressed the Ministry’s disappointment at the opening ceremony of a four-day training workshop organised by the Ministry for SGL 14 to 16 in Abuja, Monday, advised the directors to brace up for this year’s examination.
Enokela wondered why those responsible for setting examinations for others failed to pass examinations set for them.
“Why several of you failed the promotions examinations for last year is still a puzzle.  If you look at the number of people that made the examinations, compared to the number that sat for the examinations, you wonder what went wrong.
“We hope that it will be the opposite this year where we will have several people pass the promotion examinations. That is why the workshop is very important for all of you that wish to be promoted.”
Prof. Nicholas Damachi, Ministry of Education’s Permanent Secretary, who declared the workshop opened, said it was necessary to develop employees in the Ministry and also boost their promotion examinations.
He said: “The workshop is the outcome of the deliberations between the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs and Federal Civil Service Commission, FCSC, on how to improve on the success rate of the promotion exercise for directorate cadre.
Damachi who was represented by Mrs Karamot Lawal, Director, Planning Statistics & Research said: “The on going civil service reform has made it imperative for officers to be exposed to adequate training and retraining in order to build their capacity and enhance performance in the discharge of their duties.”-Vanguard
