The Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Tincan island, led by Comptroller Nuhu Mahmoudu, has raked in N10.469 billion as revenue to the coffers of the Federal Government in the first quarter of the year.
The revenue was up by 25 percent (N2.106 billion) compared with N8.362 billion generated during the same period last year.
A break down of the revenue indicated that in January this year, N3.782bn was collected; N2.616bn was realised in February and N4.07bn was generated in March as against N2.733bn in January last year, N2.457bn in February and N3.171bn in March last year, respectively.
The comparative analysis of revenue generation by the Area Accountant, PTML Area Command, Offor, B.K. also indicated that Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate, NDCC, amounted to N1.084bn in this quarter, compared with N546.6million, for the same period last year. This is an increase of N537. 8m. It was observed that during the period, goods were not seized as contraband.
