MTN Nigeria, has donated N15 million to the Kano Polo Club for the organisation of the 2011 polo tournament.
Presenting the cheque at a ceremony in Kano on Tuesday, the company’s Regional Marketing Manager (North), Aliyu Isa, said the donation was part of MTN’s contribution to the development of the game.
Isa said that the donation was a demonstration of the “long-standing business relationship between the Kano Polo club and the MTN.”
He said that the company was ready “to do much more” in its contribution to the activities of the Kano Polo club in the years ahead.
Receiving the cheque, the captain of the club, Tajudeen Dantata, thanked the company for the gesture and pledged that the money would be judiciously used for the organisation of the tournament starting on Thursday.
Dantata said that a total of 26 teams from Lagos, Ibadan, Kano and Abuja would participate in the tournament. (NAN)
