Fuel scarcity: Nigerians urge Jonathan to intervene

Less than a month after the Presidential elections, Nigerians have over the past week been grappling with the grueling effects of fuel scarcity at filling stations in major cities, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Many Nigerians are surprised at the return of long queues to the nation's filling stations barely a month after President Goodluck Jonathan's reelection especially since Nigerians had roundly commended the disappearance of long queues at filling stations following his ascension to the office of President last year.

Indeed this particular success became one of the strongest points in his campaign for re-election .

Meanwhile officials are promising to apply the new freight rate for petroleum marketers, a move which the Petroleum Products Price Regulatory Agency say will solve the fuel crisis.
Nigerians it appears are willing to ride out the situation and wait for authorities to deliver on their promises. What is unpredictable is how long they would endure.
