Nigeria Political parties leaders commend Electoral commission

Leaders of some political parties on Sunday commended the conduct of the just concluded National Assembly poll, saying it was an indication that Nigeria would have free, fair and credible elections in 2011.
The leaders, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, noted that INEC’s preparedness was a positive departure from what Nigerians witnessed a week earlier which led to the shifting of the NASS poll by a week.

Deputy National Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy, Alhaji Musa Umar, said INEC deserved a pass mark.
He said, “So far so good, the elections conducted on Saturday were fair.
“If the presidential and the governorship polls will be like that of Saturday, then everybody will accept whatever the outcome will be.”
National Chairman, National Unity Party, Chief Perry Opara, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the poll and described it as free, fair and relatively peaceful.
He said, “INEC has made up for the postponement. The way its officials conducted themselves on Saturday showed that they have made up for the loss of last week.
“The elections were well conducted and Nigerians behaved themselves.”
