Nigeria Election result in Gombe and Nassarawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the immediate past Deputy Governor of Gombe State and Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate for Gombe South, Mr. Joshua Lidani, as the winner of the election in the area.
Lidani, a lawyer, beat three others with 116,625 votes, according to the result announced in Kaltungo on Sunday by the Returning Officer, Mr. Nuhu Ya’u. He stated that another lawyer, Mr. Achana Yaro, of the All Nigeria Peoples Party emerged as the runner-up, with 60,761 votes, while Mr. Abishai Andrea of the Congress for Progressive Change clinched 32,625 votes, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.


In Nasarawa State, the PDP and CPC won a senatorial seat each in the election. The Returning Officer in Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Mr. Musa Abedoh, said in Lafia that the PDP candidate, Mr. Suleiman Adokwe, defeated five others.
He stated that Adokwe polled 108,844 of the 211,439 votes cast, while the CPC candidate, Alhaji Tanko Wambai, came second with 103,320 votes. In Nasarawa North Senatorial District, the Returning Officer, Mr. Fidelis Osar, announced the CPC candidate, Mr. Solomon Ewuga, as the winner.
Ewuga, a former minister, defeated the incumbent, Mrs. Patricia Akwashiki of the PDP, having polled 62,815 votes against Akwashiki’s 31,682 votes.
In Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, the incumbent, Mohammed Al-makura of the PDP, lost to Dr. Joseph Kigbu of CPC. The Returning Officer, Mr Matins Chiroma, announced that Kigbu polled 100,783 to beat six others, including Al-Makura, who polled 33, 140.
Also, the CPC candidate for Akwanga/Wamba/Nasarawa-Eggon Federal constituency, Alhaji Idris Yahuza, won with 55,160 votes, while his closest rival, Alhaji Nasir Kwarra of PDP polled 36, 680 votes.
The results for Awe/Keana/Doma Federal Constituency in Nasarawa South, Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency are still being awaited.
The election in Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency has been moved to April 26.
