Following the activities of hoodlums during Monday’s protests against removal of fuel subsidy, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Tuesday called off street protests on the matter.
Three persons were killed during the protests that were allegedly hijacked by hoodlums.
The labour movement ordered the protesters to sit at home and await further directives on the ongoing nationwide strike.
This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by the state chairmen of NLC and TUC, Comrade Emmanuel Ademokun and Comrade Joe Aligbe.
The statement said Monday’s events were negation of labour’s stand on the current struggle.
Labour said anybody found on the streets should be regarded as a criminal.
