The five-man gang was said to had started their activities from a popular motor park at Enerhen junction. They were disposing people of their valuables when some brave Igbudu youths engaged them in a fight before some good Samaritans called in policemen from the “A” Division.
The robbers were said to have inflicted serious knife injuries on those who accosted them, but were later overpowered with the support of other residents. Before Policemen arrived the scene, two of the robbers had been burnt to death. Policemen engaged the three others in a gun duel which left two of them dead.
The ugly incident, which ended up in front of the God’s Kingdom Society Church along Warri-Sapele Road, attracted a crowd which caused heavy traffic for several hours on the busy express road.
Vanguard gathered that the robbers had terrorised the whole area for sometime. Two of the robbers were identified as bus conductors, while one was said to be a bus driver. The fourth was said to be jobless but lived an affluent life.
It would be recalled that last Friday, two Okada riders attempted to snatch an undisclosed amount of cash from a man who just came out of a generation bank. They met their waterloo as they were caught and killed.-Vanguard
