Blues midfielder's agent claims the Ghanaian is set to honour his contract at Stamford Bridge despite reports linking him with a move to the Bernabeu this summer Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will reject any offer from Real Madrid and see out the remainder of his contract at Stamford Bridge, according to his agent.
Essien is on a long-term contract wtih the Blues and is said to be happy at the club despite recent speculation suggesting he could be set to re-unite with ex-boss Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.
Mourinho signed the Ghanaian star for £24 million from Lyon in 2005 and regularly keeps in touch with the player.
"He regularly has Jose Mourinho on the phone because they know each other well and have got on with each other since Jose was in charge of Chelsea,” the player’s agent Fabien Piveteau told The Sun.
"But Real Madrid has never really appealed to him - Michael will stay at Chelsea, where he has another four years left on his contract.
"He's very happy there, in a great city and a very good club which comes up against very good teams week in, week out."
Essien was plagued with injury and poor form for large parts of the season which coincided with Chelsea’s under-par season - the Blues eventually finishing nine points behind Manchester United and exiting the Champions League to the Red Devils in the quarter-finals.
