Super Falcons of Nigeria to arrive Germany For FIFA Women World cup on Tuesday

The Super Falcons team is to arrive in Frankfurt, Germany, for the Sixth FIFA Women’s World Cup, from its camp in Saalfelden, Austria on Tuesday, according to a Nigerian official in Germany.

The team is one of 16 teams participating in the World Cup holding in Germany from June 26 to July 17.
An embassy official said on Monday in Berlin, condition of anonymity, that the Falcons’ players and officials as well as other contingent members would immediately head into the FIFA-accredited hotel allotted to them.
“We will arrive in Germany on Tuesday and we will move into the hotel already arranged for us. For now, I cannot give more details on the hotel,’’ he said.
The team had posted impressive results in friendly matches it played while in camp in Austria since May 26.
Apart from a training match with a male under-17 team, the Falcons had beaten Austrian first division side Wacker Innsbruck 7-0 and the Czech Republic’s national women team 1-0.
It also drew 1-1 with the Austrian national women team in another one of the friendly matches it played.
The team will play its first match of the 2011 World Cup on Sunday, June 26 against France at Sinsheim in south-west Germany.
Nigeria will play its other Group A matches on June 30 against holders Germany in Frankfurt and on July 5 against Canada in Dresden.
The Falcons had qualified for the World Cup, their sixth consecutive appearance, after reaching the final of the CAF African Women Championship in South Africa in November, 2010.
They had won all three of their matches, scoring 10  goals and only conceding one, in their tight 2-1 victory over rivals South Africa.
The team to the Germany 2011 World Cup comprises experienced players such as Perpetua Nkwocha, who has twice been selected as the African Player of the Year, and Stella Mbachu.
The team is being captained by Precious Dede, a veteran goalkeeper who has played in two previous World Cup finals.(News Agency of Nigeria)
