Already, 300 of the machines are being used in 297 schools with 60,000 students as pilot project that began across the country yesterday.
Eight schools (private, government and paramilitary) have been chosen to test-run the machines at no cost to the students sitting for the on-going NECO examination.
Speaking with journalists after an inspection of the biometric verification scheme in Minna, Niger State, Head of Computer Unit of the council, Mr. Tayo Odukoya, said the new system was aimed at ensuring the uniqueness of participants.
He disclosed that with the new system, “candidates wishing to sit for the council’s examination as from this year, Nov/Dec. may have to pay more though the financial implication has not been quantified.”
