Following the spate of bomb blasts allegedly perpetrated by a religious sect in the North, known as Boko Haram, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has assured Nigerians that the Nigerian
Army was equal to the task of security challenges in the country. The COAS who gave the assurance while addressing officers and men of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Calabar, Cross River State, said that the country had witnessed a number of security challenges in recent times and that the Army, alongside other security agencies, was ready to confront those security problems.
He said, “Let me say that the nation has witnessed a number of security challenges. As I said when I was appointed Chief of Army Staff, I promised to transform Nigerian Army into a force able to meet contemporary challenges.
