Chelsea 'join Alexis Sanchez transfer race' with Man City and Barcelona

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a late entry into the Alexis Sanchez transfer race, as neither Manchester City nor Barcelona have yet managed to secure his signature. It was thought the Udinese forward had decided to join Barcelona, but City have since trumped the Spanish champions' bid.

Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has not accepted either offer, something that has not gone unnoticed at Stamford Bridge.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have now expressed an interest in signing the Chile international.
The Blues made an enquiry about the 22-year-old's availability in January, but seemed to have then withdrawn from the contest to sign him.
However, new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has apparently asked Roman Abramovich to bid for Sanchez.
One sticking point is likely to be the fee, as Pozzo has responded to the interest from Barca and City by raising his valuation of the player to £45 million.
Chelsea may find it difficult to fund that kind of transfer fee, as they are also believed to be keen to land Porto strike duo Radamel Falcao and Hulk.-metro
