AS President Goodluck Jonathan clocks his first year in office today, he has thanked Nigerians for their contributions to the stability and progress of the country, saying that the interest of the people would form the
basis of government’s decisions in the next four years of his administration.In a message to mark the first anniversary of his assumption to the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity in Abuja, on Thursday, he hoped that the last general election had opened a new chapter of renewal and transformation in the county.
According to the statement, “looking ahead to his inauguration for a fresh term of office on May, 29, President Jonathan holds that a new chapter of renewal and transformation has been opened in Nigeria’s national life, with the peaceful, free and fair conduct of the 2011 general election.”
Jonathan urged all Nigerians to join hands with his administration and dedicate themselves to ensuring the country’s continued march into a new season of peace, harmony and socio-economic development.
The statement assured of President Jonathan’s commitment to building on the achievements of the past one year, by working to bring to fruition ongoing efforts to effectively tackle the critical developmental challenges.
