The Benue Police Command has confirmed the shooting of two persons for allegedly attempting to snatch a ballot box and refusing to stop for search.
One of the suspects, a young man (name withheld), came to a polling unit at Commissioner’s quarters on a motorcycle and allegedly attempted to snatch election materials.

It was in the process that he was shot at in the chest by the security agents.
An eye witness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that voters at the polling unit in anger burnt down the suspect's motorcycle.
In another development, the second suspect was shot in Wurukum area of the town for allegedly refusing to comply with the stop and search directive.
The Benue Commissioner of Police, Mr Sani Magaji, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspects were already in police custody.
Meanwhile, hundreds of security operatives, comprising the State Security Service (SSS),Police and the Army are seen patrolling Makurdi township to ensure peace and order. (NAN)
