Atiku University,AUN responsible for 55% internet traffic in Nigeria

Representatives of one of the most important internet companies in the world visited AUN last week and came away impressed.
Google became interested in the University after it discovered that 55 percent of internet traffic from Nigeria came out of North Eastern Nigeria, specifically AUN.
Ego Obi, the leader of the three-member team and Google's Technical Program Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, saw an IT structure at AUN that could serve as a model for other institutions.

"We were keen to see how this small university as compared to other users in Nigeria could pull this off, so we decided to visit," Ms. Obi said. "The idea in the visit is to understand what you are doing here, what you’ve done and to take back lessons from this experience to implement in other institutions."

The team’s visit helped the corporation learn the exact purpose for which AUN community utilized every Google online facility, as well as the problems students and faculty encountered in their use.

In the presentation entitled "Google Africa University Programs," Ms Obi said Google was working toward partnering with institutions to understand their current infrastructure, using processes that identify challenges encountered by users. She also emphasized that AUN ranked top among a few others on the continent with commendable facilities, and observed that Google was ready to partner in those areas of requirements. "AUN has superb infrastructure, but we know there are areas of gaps," she said. "We expect you to help us identify those areas."-abti university
