The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, expressed displeasure over the state of education sector in the country and mass failure recorded in both junior and senior school certificate examinations (Waec and Neco).
They also raised the alarm over the attitude of some state governors for paying lip service to the education in their respective states. To this end, the House has mandated its committee on education to investigate causes of mass failure and other challenges facing the sector.
The Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, who gave the House resolution, mandated the committee “to bring all stakeholders together and find out why huge government investments have failed to bring about positive results.”
This was sequel to a motion moved by Honourable Jerry Alagbaso entitled, “need to review and realign our secondary schools’ curricula towards checkmating mass failures in examinations.”-Tribune
