Brazil had to endure a stiff test in their quarter-final against Nigeria, beating the Beach Eagles 10-8 in extra-time to the reach the last four of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 in Ravenna.

The South Americans started the brighter of the two sides and amassed a 3-1 lead at the close of the first period. Andre opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Musa Najare drew level for the Africans. Andre bagged two more as the opening period wound down, both from precise shots that picked out the top corner of the net.

The goals kept coming in the second period, Bartholomew Ibenegu and
James Okwuosa struck first to bring the Nigerians to 3-3 before Ibenegbu slammed home a beauty of a strike to put the Africans into the lead. The Brazilians, stung into response, drew level through Anderson. Ibenegbu scored again and so did Buru as the second period ended on a knife’s edge tangled at 5-5.
